NewJeans has announced a public contest to decide a temporary group name following an ongoing contract dispute with their agency, ADOR. The members shared the announcement through the Instagram account "jeanzforfree," stating, "We will hold a two-day contest to determine a new activity name to be used temporarily."

The decision comes after ADOR filed an injunction to prohibit NewJeans from engaging in advertising activities. The group has appointed legal representation through the law firm Sejong and has expressed their intent not to return to ADOR or HYBE under any circumstances.

In response, ADOR stated that the exclusive contract with the members remains valid and described the public naming contest as a potential breach of their agreement. The agency expressed regret over the situation.

NewJeans plans to continue interacting with fans under the new name while proceeding with legal action against their agency. The contract dispute is expected to continue as both sides maintain their respective positions.
